NHW Bayside Community Projects
NHW Bayside - Supporting our Community
NHW Bayside’s purpose is to support our community. We do more than advise on crime mitigation – we get involved in all community projects we feel are worthwhile. Projects we have supported are as varied as running a community Art show to supplying containers to the fire victims. See below just some of the activities we have suppoeted in recent years:
Community Art Show
NHW raised 60,000 from an Art Show organised as a retrospective for a fine Community Artist and his charity
Containers for Fire Victims
NHW Bayside assisted Gippsland Fire victims by filling two containers with food, clothes etc. and freighted them to Cann River.
Annual Whimsical Windows
Annually in Beaumaris NHW Bayside organises some 30 artists to paint “whimsical” paintings on the windows of some 50 traders.
Coffee with the Cops
NHW Bayside organises sessions whereby local Police discuss issues with residents over coffee.
Community Events
We attend community events as required. The above was a volunteer recruitment event organised by Bayside City Council
Safety Plates Days
Together with Victoria Police and SES we hold “Plate days” whereby we fit safety screws to the registration plates to residents’ cars.
Community Forums
NHW Bayside periodically holds education forums for the community. Sessions we have held include “Safety Sense” “Scam minimisation” and “Coping with Drugs”.
Information Presentations
NHW Committee members do presentations when requested on various topics groups – for example, Probus, Rotary, Lions, Council etc.
Council Safety Committee
NHW Bayside is a member of the Bayside City Council Safety Committee and also some local Traders’ committees.
Fundraising Activities
NHW Bayside is a100% volunteer group. We receive no funds. We depend on our fundraising, donations, grants and advertising.
Social Events
We “let our hair” down occasionally and have some fun. We wish to thank our volunteers and committee members.
Community Fairs/Events
We jioin in to community events at Christmas and other times.
